You didn't tell us your method for playing online, since I know of two ways. One way is it use adhoc party on the PS3 and I don't remember the name of the other, but you use a dongle or some thing with a computer. The PS3 one is easiest but the most expensive if you don't have a PS3 already, other wise it's free.

Only if you get Ad Hoc Party on the PS3, it's free if you have a PS3 already.
